IWCN X HOPSTERS ARTIST IN RESIDENCE: Maria Merle
Maria Merle “Oceanic Mansions and Skeleton Leaves”
Maria is the singer and co-songwriter of acoustic pop duo Glen & Glenda. In this exhibition, she reimagines the songs on the duo’s forthcoming double CD, Oceanic Mansions & Skeleton Leaves, through collage.
Maria Merle is a Sydney-based photographer, collage and mixed media artist and musician whose practice explores memory, identity,
nostalgia, suburban culture and the unexpected beauty found within everyday environments. Through lens-based imagery, collage
and mixed media processes, she investigates the relationship between place and personal narrative, transforming familiar scenes
into evocative visual stories. Since 2007, Maria has exhibited extensively throughout Sydney.
