About Heimdall Freyja
Heimdall Freyja is the project of Austrian born maker, Christiane Klinner. Her work draws upon a rich heritage of craft and design in a variety of personal products. All pieces are designed and handmade in Australia.
"We make all our patterns from scratch and use high-quality full-grain leathers, mostly sourced from local tanneries. Whether this is cow or buffalo hide, kangaroo, deer, goat or sheep skin, or a combination thereof, depends on what the design and functionality of each project calls for.
We carefully handcraft our products and saddle-stitch them by hand using two harness needles and waxed and braided thread. This century-old leather-craft technique results in durable, precise, hard-wearing and aesthetically appealing seams that machine stitching cannot achieve.
Every item in our collection is unique; some of them are inspired by medieval history and Nordic mythology which is reflected in our shop name. Our product range includes pieces for all genders and ages. We welcome new design ideas and custom orders."
Alongside her leather practice, Christiane works in the research space, focusing on Health, Public Health and Mental Health, and has published extensively through her work with Sydney University.
