About Tracey Levett
My creative life has been rich and varied. Initially I started out as a singer songwriter performing my own material and playing acoustic guitar. Following that I sang jazz with my band Swoon Jazz and Groove performing regularly around Sydney. In 1999 I recorded an album of original songs. Throughout that time I also did a lot of teaching of guitar and voice, which I loved.
In the year 2000 I became absorbed in the visual arts, obsessively drawing and painting. This led to me exhibiting and gradually embracing the life of a painter. The culmination of these years being exhibitions in New York and London.
More recently a friend asked me to take over as choir director of a multicultural community choir, it's been a steep learning curve but I'm loving it. The choir also sing some of my original material which is wonderful.
I now work in both worlds, painting, teaching the choir and occasionally writing and even sculpting. I am interested in nurturing the talents of the creative people I meet in both the music world and the visual arts. Making a deeper investigation into painting is what I am most interested in pursuing, as is writing new music and guiding my choir.
I am open to new experiences and excited to see what comes next. Life is an adventure.
